As the boom in Mexican cuisine in Eau Claire continues, Guac N' Roll (420 S. Barstow St.) has stepped up to the plate once again with a new treat that may be unfamiliar to most Midwestern palates. This spring, the locally-owned eatery rolled out a line of chamoy-infused candies to enjoy alongside your south-of-the-border entree orders.

What is chamoy? It's a spice mix – typically seen in a paste form and consistency – with a blend of sweet, salty, and sour flavors that is often spread on fruit as a Mexican street food snack. It has a rich, almost earthy, punch that blends well with sweet flavors – which explains why Guac N' Roll has spread it on everything from peach rings to gummy bears in its new Yummy Gummiez candy line.

For you heat-a-phobes, never fear; while chamoy is made with chile peppers, it's not exactly "hot." It's a different sort of spice, one that is tangy and zesty and sure to clear the sinuses – and leave you wanting another bite.

Yummy Gummiez chamoy candies are sold at Guac N' Roll's brick-and-mortar location, and come in two container sizes: three oz. for $4.50 and eight oz. for $6.99.
