LINE ON UP, FOLKS! Or just mark your calendar. Shake off some of that spring rain (or snow, the weather here is like that sometimes) and head out to these foodie events.

The Chippewa Valley is home to a hearty self-described “foodie” population (which I like to think I’m part of), and to satiate those folks and others, there is almost always some kind of food- or drink-focused happening going on. You’ve got your food trucks, your brunch events, your beer events, your multi-course dinner events, and more! Here’s a roundup of five events in May. Curious about other foodie-focused happenings? Check out our Events Calendar online or the back of this issue for a portion of our events listings.

1. FORAGE FRIDAYS

Friday, April 11 + Friday, April 25 • 11am-2pm • Forage (403 S. Barstow St., Eau Claire)

If you haven't swung by Forage lately, you may not know about this new event series. This month, folks are invited to a cafe and maker market on both dates, promising a variety of vendors providing sourdough and challah breads, cookies, honey, cheese, pasta, holistic nutrition information, and more. Feel free to snack right at Forage or take home some grub.

2. WAFFLE AXE-TRAVAGANZA

Saturday, April 12 • 9-11am • Wisconsin Logging Museum (1110 E. Half Moon Dr., Eau Claire)

It's time to embrace those Wisconsin roots and eat breakfast like a lumberjack. Yes, the Chippewa Valley Museum is taking history a step further by presenting a meal fit for a lumberjack – which, in this case, includes towers of waffles with a variety of toppings plus bacon, fruit, beverages, and local syrup. The event will also offer maple syrup demonstrations and outdoor crafts, scavenger hunts, and more.

Tickets range from $5-$10/person and are available online.

3. TASTE OF THE NORTH

Thursday, May 1 • 6-8pm • The Heyde Center for the Arts (3 South High St., Chippewa Falls)

Two floors of food and drink by over a dozen artisans – including Fun Guy Farm, Jeremiah Bullfrog Fish Farm, Chip Magnet, Baked as a Cake, Let's Get Pickled, and more – await at this sampler event. Doubling as a fundraiser for the Heyde Center, browse the art galleries and toss your name in for some raffles while you're grubbin' out.

Tickets are $30/person and are available online.

4. THE BREWING PROJEKT 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Saturday, May 3 • Noon • The Brewing Projekt (1807 N. Oxford Ave., Eau Claire)

Oh, how time flies. The whole community is invited to The Brewing Projekt's 10-year anniversary shindig featuring several local food trucks, live music, specialty beer releases and cocktails, and more. Entry is free.

5. 17TH ANNUAL NORTHWEST BEERFEST

Saturday, May 17 • Noon-4pm • Chippewa Area Ice Arena (839 First Ave., Chippewa Falls)

In support of the Chippewa Youth Hockey and Figure Skating, folks ages 21-plus can sample hundreds of beer varieties and wine, play games and check out raffles, and enjoy on-site food trucks (including The Frybread Factory and K&K Poppin' Stop).

Tickets are $45/person in advance online or $50/person at the door.
