Daughtry frontman Chris Daughtry’s original claim to fame as an American Idol finalist in the spring of 2006 was quickly superseded by the rock band’s self-titled debut album's fast rise to No. 1 on Billboard 200 that same year. In 2007, Daughtry took home a number of American Music Awards – including “New Artist of the Year” and “Artist of the Year” – followed by the band’s four Grammy Award nominations in 2008.
