SWEET TREATS. Angel's Creamy Cheesecake has landed in Eau Claire, owner Angela Hernandez, pictured, recently making the move from Chicago to Eau Claire and bringing her delicious cheesecake with her.

The Ice Cream and Bakery Shop has invited another confectionery resident to join them in their kitchen. Specializing in cheesecake, Angel’s Creamy Cheesecake plans to have a grand opening – fingers crossed – in the new year.

Owner Angela Hernandez, a pastry chef with more than 12 years of experience, graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art with a professional certification in baking and pastry. Recently, she made the move to Eau Claire from Chicago, settling down the road from The Ice Cream and Bakery Shop and taking an interest in them.

“I found out that they are a traditional Mexican bakery. I am half Hispanic and half Polish, so a lot of my upbringing has been around traditional Mexican food and sweets. I knew it would be a great fit,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez began her career fulfilling orders from home, baking cake pops and mini desserts for parties and holidays. While many home bakers focused on cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, she wanted to stand out.

“Cheesecake was always my niche, and I have never seen a shop where it was just cheesecake. So I decided to stray away from the norm and do specialty custom cheesecakes,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez sells cheesecake by the piece, in full, or in catering and bulk orders, with experience fulfilling orders for baby showers, weddings, and other large gatherings. “Those are my favorite because I love working with customers as we come up with ideas together, and I am able to help them plan their dessert tables,” Hernandez said.

Right now, Hernandez is running a one-woman show, baking everything herself.
