The annual Holiday Train Display has chugged its way back into the station this year for another festive locomotive setup at the L.E. Philips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire.

Volunteers from the Standard Gauge Module Association display an array of festively festooned freight trains, steam trains, and other model toy trains representing the years 1906 to 1940, using both original and authentic reproduction models.

Through Saturday, Dec. 28, on specific dates (see below) the exhibit will be open to the public in the Riverview Room on the third level of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library, 400 Eau Claire St., Eau Claire.

The exhibit showcases 448 square feet of railway, with three operating trains each day or night of the exhibit. As an added bonus, during the night shows the display will feature lighted train cars. Guests can also enjoy a scavenger hunt, and on Saturdays they can reserve a spot for a live reading of the classic children’s book The Polar Express, sponsored by Culver’s. Kids who board the express get a small bell and a Culver’s custard coupon.

Proceeds from the display benefit the Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. All aboard!

Admission to the The Seasonal Train Exhibit is $5 for adults, $2 for ages 5-17, and free for ages 2 and under. Through Dec. 28, trains will operate from 4:30-7:30pm on Tuesdays (except Dec. 24) and Thursdays, as well as 1-5pm on Saturdays. The Polar Express reading will be at 1:30pm, 2:30pm, and 3:30pm on Saturdays and costs $5 (which includes admission to the display).
