The Eau Claire Police Department announced a new fundraiser this holiday season: the Howlday Fundraiser. Community members can purchase K9 plushies to be set aside for donation to area kiddos.

A cash donation of $20 covers the cost of one plushie (modeled after ECPD's K9 dogs: Bolt, Manso, and Murphy) – though any amount donated to the fundraiser will go toward covering the cost of plushies and the ECPD K9 Fund – and plushies can even be purchased in honor of someone. Cash donations can be dropped off at the Eau Claire County Government Center between 9am-4:30pm Monday-Friday from now through Christmas Day.

ECPD Media Specialist Shannon Hoyt said the department has a few surprises in store for distributing the plushies, and some will also be kept in squad cars for officers to give to kids who may be on a scene they respond to.

The ECPD K9 Fund was established in 2006 to financially support the K9 Unit and other special unit needs. It is overseen by the Eau Claire Community Foundation.
