City to Host Public Forum on Housing, Homelessness, More on Oct. 28

ADDRESSING THE ISSUES. Local and state-level officials and candidates will be discussing several municipal issues at an Oct. 28 public forum at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library.

The City of Eau Claire and City Council President Emily Berge will host a public forum on Monday, Oct. 28, from 12-2pm at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library to discuss several municipal issues including housing, homelessness, fiscal stability, and public safety. The forum will be attended by numerous state legislative officeholders and candidates from the region.

Announced Thursday morning, a media release stated the forum will feature city staff “presenting on critical areas of operation and issues they face in their work” with state-level officials to discuss their plans and approaches to working with the city on the highlighted issues. 

The forum will officially run 12:15-1:30pm with the remaining half hour slated for a meet-and-greet with the representatives and candidates in attendance, which will be hosted on the library’s third floor. The media release noted the confirmed attendance of: 91st State Assembly District Rep. Jodi Emerson and candidate Michele Magadance Skinner; 92nd State Assembly District candidate Joe Plouff; 93rd State Assembly District candidates Christian Phelps and James Rolbiecki; 31st State Senate District Sens. Jeff Smith and Jesse James.

“This forum offers a valuable opportunity for residents to hear directly from those who seek to represent them,” Berge stated in the media release. “We must collaborate on these critical issues to create a resilient Eau Claire.”
