WHEN YOU EXPERIENCE PAIN IN YOUR BODY, it’s important to trace it to its source, which is why Dr. Lucas Emmerich opened a state-of-the-art chiropractic practice, Central Health, in River Prairie in May 2024. Dr. Emmerich has a specific focus on structural chiropractic methods and is attempting to bridge the gap for this type of chiropractic care in the Chippewa Valley.
So what’s the difference between traditional and structural chiropractic care? Traditional approaches are more symptom-based, whereas the structural approach works to identify the root of the pain using state-of-the-art technology. Using a digital unit x-ray that takes specific measurements of your spine and seeing how that compares to where your spine is supposed to be, Dr. Emmerich can pinpoint where there are gaps and how to close them through specific treatments.
“The structural approach is really analytically based,” Dr. Emmerich said. “That’s also what drew me into this approach. A lot of people notice it right away in the first visit. We do a lot of work on the front end to identify specific areas that are having issues, how to address those, and then determining the underlying issues to help combat the symptoms they’re experiencing.”
Dr. Emmerich offers many services in conjunction with chiropractic care, including services for those who suffer from chronic knee pain and neuropathy (severe nerve pain in the feet or hands, often found in people with Type 2 Diabetes) who want a non-invasive treatment option.
Though he’s moving from a practice in Lakeville, MN, Dr. Emmerich is no stranger to the area. He graduated from Memorial High School in 2012 and attended UW-Eau Claire, where he studied Kinesiology. He then earned his doctorate of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences in Bloomington, MN.
Dr. Emmerich knew he wanted to work in the medical field since his mother is a doctor at Marshfield Clinic in Eau Claire. “I’ve always known I wanted to do a non-invasive, natural approach to improving overall health,” Dr. Emmerich said. “I played sports growing up and played football at (UW-Eau Claire) and I personally benefited greatly from chiropractic care after experiencing chronic knee pain.”
A practicing Chiropractor since Dec. 2020, Dr. Emmerich has experience treating people from all walks of life, including athletes, expecting mothers, and chronic desk workers. His writing has been published in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal, and Family Health Chiropractic and he is part of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy, and the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association. He is ecstatic to be bringing his expertise and talents back to the area where he grew up.
He works with most major insurance companies and offers complimentary consultations. Anyone can meet Dr. Emmerich, learn about his process, and get a better understanding of how to jump-start their healing through structural chiropractic care.
