Mark your calendars and snag your tickets for a first-time winter sports extravaganza coming to Rock Falls Raceway in the new year: Winter Sports Storm. Planning is well underway for the inaugural multi-day event – slated for Feb. 27, 28, and March 1, 2025 – featuring a wide array of winter activities, including competitive events, a heated entertainment tent, and more.

Winter Sports Storm plans to host snowmobile and motorsports racing; snowshoe, fat tire biking, and cross country skiing events; kubb; a radar run; a skills relay; and more activities. The event will be held at Rock Falls Raceway, which straddles the border of Eau Claire and Dunn counties, and organizers are inviting additional groups and organizations to reach out if they want to host activities there as well.

WISCONSIN WINTER IS JUST A DIFFERENT BEAST.

“Wisconsin winter is just a different beast,” said Benny Anderson of Daredevil Consulting, which is hosting the event alongside Brian Sandy and Jeff Johnson. “We really set out to show off the trails, season, and sports, especially snowmobiling racing!”

A heated entertainment event will also feature Rock Falls Raceway’s concessions setup inside it, as well as local food truck caterers, live music featuring country and more, group rides, and kids winter activities.

“Our area is incredibly lucky to have trails, events, and people who want to enjoy all four seasons and all of the unique activities that we get to have as Wisconsinites,” Anderson said. “We are still working out details on some of these events. … We wanted to have all attendees have the chance to try equipment or play some of these activities and more.”

The three-day event is also supporting someone special in their lives, and the lives of many community members. Lakken Burzynski passed away this spring at the age of 21 after her second battle with cancer. Dedicated to her memory, Lakken’s Legacies will benefit young adults with cancer and their families through “Best Day Ever” experiences, emergency funding, and other forms of support. (Lakken experienced the first “Best Day Ever” lead by local businesses, artists, and Visit Eau Claire at the end of 2023. See the video below:)
