Multi-platinum country music star Chris Young will headline the first concert held at The Sonnentag, UW-Eau Claire’s brand-new field house and event center.

The inaugural concert will be 7:30pm Thursday, Sept. 12, at The Sonnentag, 1075 Menomonie St. Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10am Friday, Aug. 2, with a special pre-sale for UWEC students, faculty, and staff beginning at 10am Thursday, Aug. 1.

Young – who has scored 13 No. 1 singles and launched his ninth studio album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, in March – is in the midst of a nationwide tour which will bring him to Target Field in Minneapolis the day after his Eau Claire show. The award-winning Tennessee singer-songwriter is known for hits like “Gettin’ You Home,” “Voices,” “Tomorrow,” “I’m Comin’ Over,” and “Famous Friends.”

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Chris Young to The Sonnentag for our inaugural concert," said Sharlae Vanis, membership and communications coordinator at The Sonnentag. "His music resonates with people from all walks of life, and we know he will put on a captivating and unforgettable show for our community.”

“And this concert is just the beginning of what we have in store for The Sonnentag,” Vanis added, “We are committed to bringing top-tier talent and diverse events to Eau Claire, and we invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey.”

The Sonnentag bills itself as the “largest indoor event venue in northwestern Wisconsin,” with an event center/gym that can hold 5,000 (3,800 in fixed seats), a 120-yard indoor turf field house, a fitness and wellness center, UWEC athletic offices, as well as the Mayo Clinic Health System Diagnostic Imaging and Sports Medicine Center. The arena will serve at the home court for UWEC’s basketball program.

The Sonnentag was made possible by an approximately $70 million donation from alumni John and Carolyn Sonnentag. Learn more at thesonnentag.com.
