From live music and theater to workshops and arts classes, the Heyde Center for the Arts is a mainstay of the Chippewa Valley arts scene, so it may surprise folks to learn the center has never held an official juried arts show – until now. The deadline to submit to the show, “Arrivals and Departures,” is Monday, Aug. 5.

Open to artists ages 18 and up residing in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan, the juried show is accepting 2D and 3D works inspired by or interpreting the theme, however broadly (excluding computer media/projection works, AI use, or performance art). Accepted artists will be notified on Aug. 18, and the show’s opening reception and awards ceremony are slated for 2-4pm Sept. 8 at the Heyde Center (3 South High St., Chippewa Falls).

The show’s Awards Judge is Barry Roal Carlsen, co-founder of Vox Popilu Print Collective and longtime senior artist in the UW-Madison Communications Office, whose award-winning work has been exhibited nationally and in Europe. The Best of Show award will also come with an $800 cash prize, first place receiving $500, second place receiving $300, and third place receiving $150.
