“Big Sur” (2023) 46” x 32” x 13” • Carved urethane and torn paper by Jeff Nelson • From the artist: “Big Sur is a three-dimensional representation of a cresting wave. The dimensional quality is meant to give a feeling of power and movement. The piece is constructed using rigid urethane, which is carved and stained torn paper. The piece extends 13” into the viewing space. Due to this dimensional quality light and shadow play on the surface adding interest and drama. A sense of power and movement are present. ‘Big Sur’ is a piece associated with the local group of three-dimensional artists. This group is named Empty Walls Art (EWA) collective. EWA will be the featured artists at ArtZ gallery in Amery from July through August. For a truly unique art experience, plan to attend.”
