SILVER SPRING GOES GOLD: Silver Spring Mustards Crowned at National Competition
Eau Claire-made condiments win three medals at 2024 World-Wide Mustard Competition
National Mustard Day is comin’ up this summer on Aug. 3, but we’ve got something saucy to celebrate right now: Eau Claire’s own Silver Spring Foods took home a trio of wins from the 2024 World-Wide Mustard Competition!
The annual competition returned to Middleton, Wisconsin, this spring, welcoming over 270 mustards from more than 70 companies from around the globe. Eau Claire’s Silver Spring Foods won the gold medal in the Horseradish/Wasabi category with its Beer’n Brat Mustard, a customer favorite and staple at many barbecues and kitchens.
Silver Spring also snagged the silver medal in the Coarse Grain category with its Stone Ground Mustard, known for its robust flavor and, of course, grainy texture. Rounding out their trio of wins, the company took home the bronze medal with its spicy and tart Deli-Style Mustard in the Deli category.
Across 19 categories, mustards are judged on three things: 1) Mustard quality or how “mustardy” it is; 2) Category fidelity; and 3) Overall flavor and appearance. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals are awarded, and one Grand Champion is named overall.
“These awards reflect our dedication to crafting superior mustards that enhance every meal. Our team’s passion for innovation and quality is evident in these products, and we are proud to bring these celebrated flavors to mustard lovers throughout the United States,” said Eric Rygg, president at Silver Spring Foods, in a recent media release.
Congrats, Silver Spring Foods! Oh, and as y’all say: Give It Zing!
