Reverb Music Festival literally rocked the Chippewa Valley last year with its inaugural entry into the region’s vast variety of music festivals. Its focus? Alternative pop, rock, emo, and punk, paying homage to groups that rose to fame in the late ’90s and early 2000s and continue to rock out in the hearts of self-proclaimed “elder emos.” Last year’s lineup included bands like All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Plain White T’s, and more. Organizers are kicking up their nostalgia factor this year, adding a second day to the festival to showcase throwback hip-hop artists.

On Friday, Aug. 16, expect hip-hop performances by T.I., Ginuwine, Bubba Sparxxx, Twista, Yung Joc, and Mike Jones. Saturday, Aug. 17, will include favorites including Yellowcard, Hawthorne Heights, Story of the Year, Amber Pacific, Secondhand Serenade, Anberlin, and Emery, all opened by local DJ Moses.

Being held at the Eau Claire Event District (5775 20th Ave., Eau Claire) on Aug. 16-17, the festival is splitting the genres between the two days so fans can purchase tickets for just Friday or Saturday depending on their tastes, or spend both days enjoying the music.

“It’s just the resurgence of the millennial,” laughed Kathy Wright, managing director of the Eau Claire Event District. “(The musicians are) now kind of old enough that they’re able to come back out and play again (with a nostalgia factor).”

As for the festival itself, most things will stay the same, with the return of the Vendor Village and art installations, and of course, full bars and food court-style options from the Eau Claire Event District's own KP Katering.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, March 26, including VIP Pit tickets, the Jam Deck, and general admission, ranging from $139-$349. Camping is also available for the full weekend with electrical hookups and a public shower house included in the campsite purchase.
