This new offering from Chippewa Falls Parks, Recreation & Forestry is also a throwback for some folks: Dodgeball. Looking for something new to add to its rec programming, the local department is now bringing youth dodgeball to Chippewa Falls, and signup opens online on Monday, Feb. 19, at 8am.

Slated for April, there will be two age groups for youths: ages 5-7 and ages 8-10. Registration is $15/per child for Chippewa Falls residents and $20 for non-residents. The dodgeball program will be held at St. Charles Borromeo (810 Pearl St., Chippewa Falls) on Thursdays, April 4-25. The 5-7 age group will run 5:45-6:30pm and the 8-10 age group will be 7-7:45pm.

“We wanted to offer something new for the community and dodgeball provides an opportunity for youth to participate in healthy habits – moving, running, jumping, and throwing – in a safe environment,” John Jimenez, director of the parks, rec, and forestry department, said.

Make sure to sign up quickly if interested, as there are only 16 spots per group. Participants won’t need to bring any specific gear, just show up ready to move and with some energy!

If each group’s 16 spots do fill up there will be a waiting list, and if enough individuals are interested, there could be additional programming or more spots added, Jimenez said.
