Morgan. Pulisic. Messi. Lasso. These are some names now common in the U.S. thanks, in part, to soccer becoming the fastest-growing sport in America. It requires little in terms of equipment and a space to play, and a wide range of opportunities for a wide range of skills creates openings for all to enjoy. Eau Claire United, a local football (soccer) club with roots 30 years deep, has partnered with a national organization to extend community soccer for many more.

TOPSoccer, the Outreach Program for Soccer, is a community-based program designed to provide an inclusive and enjoyable soccer experience for community youth with physical and intellectual disabilities. This initiative aims to foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth of young athletes, promoting not only soccer skills but also social interaction and self-esteem.

“The impact is going to be invaluable for all involved and represents our commitment to investing in community through the beautiful game of soccer.”

NED NOEL

TOPSOCCER UNITED WE PLAY DIRECTOR

The bedrock of TOPSoccer is its commitment to creating a supportive environment where every child, regardless of their abilities, can participate and thrive. The program involves trained coaches, volunteers, and buddies who work together to ensure that participants receive personalized attention and assistance. Ned Noel, TOPSoccer United We Play director and Eau Claire United coach, is leading the initiative through this new partnership.

The activities within TOPSoccer sessions are adapted to meet the unique needs of each participant ages 5 through high school. From modified drills to specialized equipment, the program tailors experiences to accommodate abilities and challenges. This adaptability not only makes the sport accessible but also empowers participants to engage in physical activities that contribute to their overall well-being

“Turnout has already met more than our expectations,” Noel said. “The impact is going to be invaluable for all involved and represents our commitment to investing in community through the beautiful game of soccer.”

Registration is closed for the current season – which will wrap up in late January – but those interested in any capacity should contact the club for future seasons.
