December is National Write a Friend Month, and the Chippewa Falls Public Library is celebrating by adding a new display of books about letter writing, including To the Letter by Simon Garfield, Letters from the Boys by Carrie A. Meyer, and more. Next to the book display is free stationary that people can use to compose hand-written letters to send to loved ones. Make sure to show someone you care about them this month with the (almost) lost art of writing a letter.

There’s a new gnome in town – and his name is Kenny. The Nostalgic Bean (1403 Lynn Ave., Altoona) shared on Facebook that they recently updated their logo, which now includes Kenny the Gnome. Kenny gets his name from owner Gretchen’s grandfather. Gretchen had a love of gnomes ever since she was a child, which is what inspired the design. The new logo was created by Jesse Burgin, owner of Ink Signals, and will now be a part of the bakery’s full branding.

‘Tis the season of giving back, and Chippewa High School students who are a part of the school’s DECA and FBLA programs recently raised $958 for the Hope Village tiny homes. The funds were raised through the Strides4Hope 5K that the groups hosted in November. Around 40 runners participated in the event. Hope Village recently shared this photo of them receiving the donation from a couple of students. Young people in the Chippewa Valley are truly capable of anything!
