For lovers of high-flying aeronautic action in the Chippewa Valley, we’ve got some good news: The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels will be on hand for the next Chippewa Valley Air Show.

We’ve also got some not-so-good news: The death-defying performance team won’t be breaking the sound barrier over Eau Claire for nearly two more years.

Organizers of the Chippewa Valley Air Show announced Dec. 5 that the next show will be June 28-29, 2025, at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport. The last air show in Eau Claire was in 2022.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the U.S. Navy Blue Angels back to the Chippewa Valley in 2025,” Tina Olson, the air show’s director, said in a media release. “Their incredible aerial displays never fail to amaze and inspire, and we are proud to host this world-class team.”

The announcement continued: “In addition to the mesmerizing performance by the Blue Angels, CVAS will feature an exciting roster of world-class aerobatic teams, historic aircraft displays, and interactive exhibits that offer a glimpse into the world of aviation and aerospace.”

The air show will be hosted by the Chippewa Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and 100% of profits will support more than 60 nonprofit organizations in the region.

The Blue Angels, who currently fly F/A-18 Super Hornets, are a team of U.S. Navy and Marine pilots who trace their performing history to 1946. Their participation in the Chippewa Valley Air Show was announced Dec. 5 at the International Council of Air Shows convention in Las Vegas. For their 2025 season, the Blue Angels are scheduled for 64 demonstrations in 32 locations nationwide – including Duluth, Milwaukee, and Eau Claire.
