UTILITY UPGRADE. Visit Eau Claire is looking for artists to submit art that could be used to decorate a utility building similar to the one seen above. (Photo via Visit Eau Claire)

You’ve likely seen the boxy utility nodes or buildings that have popped up around Eau Claire to house TDS fiber-optic control panels. Visit Eau Claire is looking to give some of them a facelift. From now through Friday, Nov. 10, local artists are encouraged to submit their art for a chance to have it turned into a wrap that will cover the structures (which a Visit Eau Claire describes as “utility buildings” but to us look more like big green boxes).

For safety reasons, Visit Eau Claire is seeking artwork with lighter colors, but the art can be made from any medium (the chosen medium should be clarified on the submission). The dimensions of the artwork must be 32 inches by 9 inches, which will be enlarged to wrap around the structure. Submissions may represent a section or example of the artwork if desired. The chosen artist will receive a $500 stipend.

Submissions can be made at via this Google form and any questions can be directed to Julie Pangallo, Visit Eau Claire’s public arts and events manager, via email (julie@visiteauclaire.com) or phone (715-450-0399).
