Heavy Metal History: C.V. Museum Part of Worldwide Film Screening
museum will show heavy metal band’s World War I saga on Veterans Day
If you always thought museums were boring and quiet, you are in for a heavy awakening: The Chippewa Valley Museum in Carson Park (1204 E. Half Moon Drive), will soon be part of an event that unites museums around the world through history and heavy metal music.
In celebration of Armistice Day (better known in America as Veteran’s Day) on Saturday, Nov. 11, the Chippewa Valley Museum will take part in showing the movie The War to End All Wars. The film was created by a Swedish heavy metal band, Sabaton, in an effort to launch a worldwide museum project entitled “History Rocks.” This project was created to raise awareness about the importance of history and to help encourage people to visit their local museums, big and small.
The development of this film was made by members of the band with a partnership from Yarnhub Animation Studios and will feature music from Sabaton’s 10th studio album, which was released March 4, 2022. The movie will explore stories and heroes from World War I.

It’s a really interesting thing!
I’ve always been a huge fan of Sabaton, and being one of only two museums in Wisconsin participating in this worldwide event is incredible.

CV Museum Development Manager
Dustyn Dubuque, Chippewa Valley Museum’s development manager and local metal enthusiast, is very excited to bring this presentation to the area.
“It’s a really interesting thing! I’ve always been a huge fan of Sabaton, and being one of only two museums in Wisconsin participating in this worldwide event is incredible,” said Dustyn.
While the event will be hosted by hundreds of museums all over the world from Nov. 4-11, the only other museum in Wisconsin playing this movie is the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison. But don’t expect it to be streaming or available for purchase either. According to Sabaton’s official website, this movie is slated to only be shown at participating museums between the aforementioned dates. A standard museum admission fee of $12 will grant you access to see the movie at the Chippewa Valley Museum.
In conjunction with the movie, the Chippewa Valley Museum will also be partnering with other local businesses during this one-day event. Zymurgy Brewing, located in Menomonie, will be serving specialty craft brews at the event and Eau Claire’s newest record store, Abraxas Wax Records, will also be donating Sabaton and other heavy metal records to the event as prize giveaways.
So practice your headbanging as you enter the Chippewa Valley Museum on Nov. 11 and learn about the War to End All Wars. Mosh pit not included.
