Read it and weep! Jodi Bird loves to read and loves Menomonie, so it’s no wonder why she is the Menomonie Public Library’s public service manager. A resident of Menomonie for 26 years, Jodi has been active in all sorts of areas, including Soccer Club, Hoops Club, and on the PTO. She often works with schools in the area to share all of the important events and services that the library offers to the area.

“I am passionate about reading and making sure everyone has access to the materials they want to read.”

What’s your passion?

I am passionate about reading and making sure everyone has access to the materials they want to read.

What place in town considers you a “regular”?

I would say I’m considered a “regular” at the fields, either softball or soccer. I’ve spent a lot of time in both places with our kids.

What is one of the best cultural experiences you’ve had in the Chippewa Valley?

It’s a toss-up between The Book of Mormon at the Pablo Center and International Mother Languages Day at UW-Stout.

Death bed, one meal from a local restaurant, what would it be?

Thai Peanut Bowl from Log Jam.

What is your favorite piece of local trivia?

The Menomonie Public Library was designed by John Howe who was an understudy of Frank Lloyd Wright.

What’s your favorite local festival?

Music Over Menomin of course!

What book, TV show, or movie would you recommend to the members of the City Council?

Ted Lasso. Some good life lessons there.

What is your favorite part about working at Menomonie Public Library?

My favorite part about working at the library is the variety and the people. One day you could be helping someone print something off of the computer and the next day, or maybe even the same day, you are trying to find a book where the person doesn’t remember the title but they remember the cover was blue. I’ve met some really wonderful people from my many years at the library.

Jodi's Shoutouts

Brewery Nonic. “This is my favorite brewery in Menomonie. If you haven’t tried the Tartan you must! It’s the best!!”

Lakeside Park. “This little-known park is a hidden gem and the library has a ‘story walk’ there. Check it out!”

Anshus Jewelers. “Lisa and her staff are so helpful and make sure you leave with a piece of jewelry that fits you.”
