FIRST-TIMER. The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is holding the inaugural Card Crawl event at the end of September.

Did you know September is Library Card Sign-Up Month?! The L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is makin’ sure to celebrate by hosting a fantastic all-new event: Card Crawl 2023.

Make sure to bring your library card – or get one! – on Saturday, Sept. 30, and explore all of the family-friendly activities going on from 10am-5pm at the library. With fun freebies up for grabs all over the building by “getting carded” at special stations, a grand prize drawing, special library swag available, and more, you’re not going to want to miss this first-time event.

Eau Claire Transit will be offering free bus rides to library cardholders all day long on any route (not just to the library!) by showing the driver your library card or the MORE Libraries app.

Attendees are also invited to take selfies with the "Very Large Library Cards" in two different locations during the Card Crawl. The library will also unveil its Greg Goetz Memorial Library Card Collection – a special map detailing the travels of longtime staffer Goetz across the region's public library system.

If you’re in need of a library card, stop by the customer services desk on Level 1 of the library. Even if your library card’s been lost or damaged, they’ll replace it (and that day, it’ll be replaced by a special vintage version).

Schedule of the day’s events:

  • Friends of the Library Bag Sale
    • 10am-2pm at the Dabble Box Courtyard (outside)
  • Family Storytime + Pablo Center ARTmobile
