In fifth grade, Sandra Cress decided to become an artist. Obtaining a BFA from UW-Eau Claire has been a highlight in her life.
“Veggieland” (2020) • Ink, watercolor, and acrylic • From the artist: “ ‘Veggieland’ was the start of a small series of paintings I did for fun, arranging fruits and vegetables as elements in the landscape. Bright colors and a strong, simplified composition complete the scene. Your imagination can take you anywhere! Seeing a carrot as a tree, or a ripe tomato as the juicy sun in a harvest sky brings a whimsical touch to the traditional definition of a landscape.”
