E.C. Community Foundation to Welcome Wesley Escondo as New President, CEO
after almost 9 years with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Northern Wisconsin agency, Escondo will lead the ECCF beginning this summer
As of Aug. 7, the Eau Claire Community Foundation (ECCF) will have a new leader in Wesley Escondo, succeeding Sue Bornick who has held the position of Executive Director since 2009.
Bornick was key to ECCF’s growth and success, ECCF seeing its assets more than quadruple under her leadership, alongside the opening of dozens of new funds and hundreds of awarded grants. She will transition into a new part-time role focused on development and planned giving, a media release stated.

Escondo served as the Chief Executive Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin for nearly 9 years, leading the youth mentoring agency and spurring innovating growth in revenue, diversity, and program offerings, according to a media release. Among the list of new programs, Escondo helped create the Altoona Railway Mentoring Program, Bigs in Blue, and the launch of the Big Brothers Big Sisters used sporting goods store, Sporting World.
“I look forward to collaborating with ECCF’s dedicated staff, Board of Trustees, fund holders, donors, and community partners to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of the people we serve,” Escondo said. “Together, we will continue to strengthen and empower the Eau Claire area.”
Escondo will work closely with the ECCF’s Board of Trustees and staff to advance its mission as president and CEO, playing a crucial role in cultivating donor relationships, expanding ECCF’s grant-making programs, and ensuring the effective stewardship of funds to address the most critical needs of the community.
ECCF’s Board of Trustees is confident in Escondo’s leadership abilities, a media release stated. “We are delighted to welcome Wesley Escondo as our new President and CEO,” Board Chair Tom Larson said. “His exceptional leadership skills, dedication to community development, and track record of success make him the ideal candidate for this role. We believe that under his guidance, ECCF will continue to thrive and create a lasting impact in Eau Claire.”
