The First Event of its Kind in the Valley, E.C. HmongFest Slated for June
two-day cultural event will be held June 17-18 at Eau Claire Soccer Park
For the first time ever, the Eau Claire HmongFest will be hosted by the Eau Claire Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (ECAHMAA) to celebrate Hmong culture. The event will be held on June 17-18 at the Eau Claire Soccer Park (3456 Craig Road), bringing Hmong food and incredible events all in one place.
HmongFest will feature two dance competitions, where groups will take to the stage and contend for a first-place title. The first competition will be Saturday, June 17, at 11:30am, and the second will be Sunday, June 18, at noon.
Got some rhythm but prefer to sing? There will be a singing competition as well! The competition will include individuals and groups, performances slated for Saturday at 1:30pm with the top five performers advancing to performances on Sunday at 11am.
Break a sweat by participating (or simply watching) the sports competitions happening all weekend. Enjoy games of men’s and women’s soccer, senior soccer, men’s and women’s flag football, and men’s and women’s volleyball. The schedules for each game will be announced as the event gets closer.
Don’t forget the food! With multiple food vendors serving up traditional Hmong favorites like purple sweet sticky rice, papaya salad, egg rolls, Hmong BBQ meat, and nab vam, there’s something for everyone.
After a full and exciting day of activities, folks can then enjoy the HmongFest Night Festival on Saturday night. Popular Hmong artists will be performing, including Ka Lia Universe, Supryze, Hmisfit, Pong Vang, Gy Yang, Chin Chilla, Jack GV, and Michelle Elle, with music by Kuelio Ice Cold, hosted by Billy Lor. Doors open at 5pm and the performances start at 6pm.
Tickets for one-day admission are $10, two-day admission for $18, and the Night Festival is $25 for admission. The event is also a fundraiser for Hmong youth in the community, aiming to help with extracurricular activities, scholarships, and culture and language classes. The fundraising effort will also be going towards building a commercial kitchen within the ECAHMAA, as well as contributing to entrepreneurial opportunities and Eau Claire Hmong Association’s programming.
