Events and shows are back in full swing now that the weather is nice in the Chippewa Valley! If you want to get out of the sun for a little bit and enjoy some local theater, these shows might be perfect for you.

SOMETHING ROTTEN

Trying to make it big as a playwright back in Elizabethan England was no small feat; it was made especially difficult considering the influence of a nuisance named William Shakespeare. This June, the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre performs the hilarious Tony-nominated musical Something Rotten, where two playwright-brothers, The Bottom Brothers, attempt to make the big time by creating Omelette, the world's first-ever musical. Watch as the two brothers try to make the next big thing, and how it goes awry when Shakespeare comes into the picture. It’s quite literally Shakespeare meets Broadway!

Something Rotten will be hosted at the Pablo Center this June 8-10 at 7:30, and June 11 at 1:30. Tickets can be purchased here: pablocenter.org

ROCK OF AGES

Relive the flashy, head-banging, big-haired Rock ’n’ Roll scene of the ’80s with the Chippewa Valley Theatre Guild’s upcoming production of Rock of Ages. A five-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical featuring all your favorite hits from the ’80s. Whether it be Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, Starship’s “We Built This City”, or Pat Benetar’s “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”; you’re guaranteed to hear one of your favorite tracks or artists of the ’80s. The plot follows megalo-maniac Stacee Jaxx as he takes up the stage at one of Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues. Meanwhile, Drew dreams of becoming a big-time rocker, and is trying to win over his small-town sweetheart Sherrie. When their local bar is threatened to be torn down and a strip mall to be built atop it, join Drew, Sherrie, and more as they come together to save the day.

Rock of Ages will be held at the Pablo Center from June 22-24 at 7:30, and June 25 at 1:30. Buy your tickets today at pablocenter.org.

MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL

Menopause The Musical is a story of four unlikely women coming together and forming a sisterhood, having nothing in common besides a black lace bra found at a department store’s lingerie sale! Despite their differences, these women are united in their womanhood and adulthood. Whether it be making fun of their hot flashes, wrinkles, forgetfulness, and more; a sisterhood is created between these women that defies the stigma surrounding menopause. It’s a fun, hilarious musical featuring tunes from the ’60s and ’70s, making clear that menopause is a completely natural response in a woman's life.

Menopause the Musical will be taking place at the Pablo Center on July 13 and 14, both at 7:30. Purchase tickets at pablocenter.org.
