Wielderfight is not your grandma's blues music – or maybe it is? Frontman Eric Rykal has a very specific sound he is trying to achieve. Mixing the sounds and influences of 80s punk with original blues rebel themes and you have Wielderfight.

Punk has been dubbed the anti-establishment music genre, but blues is where it all comes from. Wielderfight is not diversifying the genres, but taking two distinct sounds with similar backgrounds and meshing them, making their own sound.

This Chippewa Falls band started during a time of uncertainty: the first year of the pandemic. Releasing their first album Boneshaker and following it up with Black Coal / Black Smoke in 2022. How do they plan to follow that up?

This summer they will be releasing their 4-song EP, titled Hymnal, on June 2. We can expect that their sound is equal parts punk anarchy and dark, folksy vexation. Rykal calls this EP a continuation of the previous albums. The first single from the EP, “No Soul to Save”, is currently available for streaming on platforms everywhere.

If you're wanting to experience Wielderfight's sound live, have no fear. They will be performing along with T Carl Ives at the Tomahawk Room on June 10 at 8pm.

The first two albums are on all streaming platforms, the new EP is currently available for pre-order at wielderfight.bandcamp.com.
