For the 35th year, the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra (CVSO) invites young musicians of the Valley to hone their skills up to performance level. Video submissions playing or singing either a movement of a concerto or an aria are welcomed from students 14-18 for the chance to win cash prizes and a winning opportunity like no other!

“Five finalists will be selected by CVSO Music Director Nobuyoshi Yasuda from the entry videos,” the symphony states. The finalists will perform together in front of a panel of judges to determine the winner. Each of the runners-up will receive $300, $200, or $100 in prizes. “The winner will receive a $1300 prize and the opportunity to perform with CVSO on October 7, 2023, at Pablo Center at the Confluence."

This opportunity not only encourages musical excellence from across the Valley’s students, but provides a way to honor a musician’s practice, skill, and tenacity. Performing for a grand audience, the competition is difficult yet is an opportunity every musician should take advantage of. The videos are recommended to be 8-16 minutes in length and must be submitted by April 23, 2023.

If you are a previous winner, you cannot reapply this year. However, if you were a previous runner-up or honorable mention, you are welcome to test out your music chops and take to the stage once more!
