An opportunity to hear from Green Bay Packers players AND raise money for a local nonprofit? We’re game!

According to Erin Crowell and Katelyn Wonderlin, two of the sexual assault victim advocates at Bolton Refuge House (807 S. Farwell St., Eau Claire), this is the first year the organization is hosting a stop on the Green Bay Packers Tailgate Tour – and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

“We have unfortunately lost quite a lot of funding (more than $100,000) this year for our 24/7 shelter and support services so we are looking for as much support from our community as possible,” Crowell explained.

“The more people that are aware of how sexual assault impacts the community, the more we can work together to support survivors and prevent the violence from ever happening.”

Here’s the game plan: the fundraiser includes everything from hors d’oeuvres and a free drink ticket to a live auction of autographed Packers memorabilia and a player Q&A.

Participating players include Aaron Jones, Elgton Jenkins, and Romeo Doubs; alumni players Eddie Lacy, Davon House, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix; and Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy. Other highlights of the night include a performance by the Eau Claire Women in Theater, caricatures, a photo booth, and teal extension installations courtesy of local salon Saylon Seven.

“We hope this fundraiser will put the spotlight on the importance of support for survivors of sexual violence,” Wonderlin said. “The more that people are aware of how sexual assault impacts the community, the more we can work together to support survivors and prevent the violence from ever happening.”

The Tailgate Tour event will kick off at 6pm and end at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 11, at The Lismore Hotel (333 Gibson St., Eau Claire), and tickets that may be purchased online. If tickets remain on the day of the event, they will be sold at the door.
