“Somewhere Over the Rainbow” (2015) 38” x 47” Acrylic by Barbara Shafer • From the artist: Barbara has for many years depicted her love of dance in sculpture, drawing, and painting. The tools that she uses to narrate Michael Doran dancing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” are fashioned from: her formal education in art; her direct observation and experience of dance; and her innate sense of what is “right.” Barbara and her husband, Andy, share studio space in Banbury Place. Her work can be seen by loudly knocking at Room 219, Building 13 and at the building’s Art Crawl; in the 200 Main Street Gallery and Mona Lisa’s Restaurant; and on her website: barbarafshafer.com.
