Q: Who is Wyatt Eiden? A: A Chippewa Falls Native Hitting It Big On TikTok
whether you see him on TikTok’s ‘For You Page’ or on the street, he’s got some questions to ask
Are you ready to play "Are You Smarter Than a Drunk College Student?” Wyatt Eiden, a Chippewa Falls resident, has accumulated more than 2.7 million followers on TikTok while quizzing college students outside of college bars. He got his start at his own alma mater, UW-Madison, and – you guessed it – outside Water Street bars near UW-Eau Claire.
The questions he asks vary, ranging from science to geography to history and everything in between. Eiden says he gets most of his questions from old trivia board games he has found while thrifting. And the people he quizzes? Young college-aged individuals found outside popular college bars.
Eiden decided to start making TikToks in March 2020 when the app first started to gain traction, and began by posting random videos he thought others would enjoy. Then in April 2021, he and his friends went out to bars to quiz some of the other college students in Madison. Little did he know tjat his quizzing antics would become a huge hit on TikTok, earning him about 500,000 followers in a four-month span.
“My generation is one of the first to grow up seeing people online and pursuing their passion and making a living from doing it,” Eiden said. “I always thought that’d be a really fun thing to do.”
He recently just returned from a “tour” of other universities around the country, testing students’ knowledge of different pieces of trivia. These colleges included the University of Miami, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, Clemson University, Louisiana State University, and many more.
He’s also collaborated with a number of Wisconsin brands, including Kwik Trip, Culver’s, and Bubbler, and some national brands like Crocs, AT&T, various nonprofits, and more.
Though he’s back in Chippewa Falls now, he plans to continue traveling the country and producing content for multiple platforms, such as YouTube and Instagram.
“It’s been very surreal,” he said. “I always tell people, ‘If I was able to do it, anybody is able to do it.’ ”
