January marks the end of my first year as an associate editor at Volume One Magazine. It’s absolutely insane to me that my one-year anniversary approaches already because my start here oddly feels like it was both ages ago and just yesterday. Looking back on my initial year, I’ve definitely grown as a person as much as I have a writer. I was part of some truly unique things this year thanks to this gig, most notably the 10 Under 10 feature profiling cool kids in the community; a video project documenting a trip through Govin’s Twisted Tales of Horror I took alongside my co-worker McKenna Scherer, and helping out at Volume One’s 20th Anniversary Party in July. On top of all that I get to do what I love most every day and decorate my desk any way I want – what could be better? I think the best thing to come from this year, though, is the friendships I’ve made right here in the Volume One office and in the Chippewa Valley community. I can’t wait to march right into 2023 with all of these newfound friendships and continue to see how I blossom and grow next to the people that I love.
