‘Raspberry Sherbet Striations’ by Holli Jacobson

Holli Jacobson isn’t afraid to bust a move between brushstrokes.

“Raspberry Sherbet Striations” (2016) 28” x 32” Acrylic on Canvas by Holli Jacobson • From the artist: “This painting is a colorful abstraction of land and space, with hazy representations of mountains, bodies of water, and meteorological phenomenon. Not representative of a particular location, this ambiguity allows the viewer to make free-form connections with places seen or visited. The title references the delectable colors and the thin painted lines of the mountain ridges.

“Like most arts, painting has become my meditative space, the calm in a busy life of kid activities and volunteer obligations. Gardening, hiking, and being outdoors is also an inspiring part of my art practice. In our overstimulating and chaotic world, I hope art encourages others to create and find peace in the natural spaces around them.”
