Meyer Loaves, a new local bread company, provides six different types of loaves – three are staples, two specialties, and one seasonal. Folks can place their order and go get their bread at the pick-up station inside Eau Claire’s The French Press (2823 London Road, Eau Claire).

The owner, Abbi Meyer, provides a healthy wheat bread that is lower in calories, providing an option for those who’d like to eat a bit healthier. She also offers white potato bread, parmesan herb bread, and wild rice sunflower bread. Meyer’s most popular loaf is the cinnamon espresso and her fall special is the pumpkin pecan bread. Mmmmmmm.

You can place an order by messaging Meyer Loaves on Facebook or emailing them directly. Then, Meyer makes all the bread in one day, making only what is ordered to avoid producing any excess. Folks can pick up the bread at The French Press, payments are accepted in cash, check, or Venmo.

“I am excited to pour into this community that I was so lucky to grow up in,” Meyer said. “I anticipate meeting new people in my city and enjoying the opportunity to start a new business in such a great place.”

Meyer is an Eau Claire native, mother to twin boys, and a baker at The French Press with four years of professional bread-baking experience. However, she’s been baking throughout her whole life, starting with the dough her mother gave her to braid alongside her sister when she was a child.

Meyer operates under the Wisconsin Cottage Law which allows her to sell baked goods she makes out of her home. Meyer is allowed to sell shelf-stable products, such as bread, but the state’s Cottage Law does not cover the selling of refrigerated/frozen goods.

“Most of all, I am excited and blessed to be able to provide fresh homemade bread to the people of the Chippewa Valley!”

Meyer is hoping to do pop-up shops and farmers markets in the future, so keep an eye out for Meyer Loaves!
