New renovations for Boyd Park in Eau Claire have been no walk in the park.  But the folks working on them are happy to share how construction is truckin’ along.

Since August, a new skatepark and playground have been under construction at Boyd Park, which lies just a few blocks from downtown Eau Claire in the Eastside Hill Neighborhood. Approval for the amenities goes back to 2020, but the park has been steadily making progress towards their end goal.

Additions to the park will steadily continue in parts from late September and into October.

Equipment installation is scheduled for completion in the early days of October with additions like the concrete border, which began construction the week of Sept. 26. PIP Safety Surfaces will begin construction the week of Oct. 10.

Solar tree components will be installed too, with work slated for late September. Sidewalk installation will happen sometime in October. NEI General Contracting is currently trying to fix a broken conduit before they get approval to refill the hole in the park as well.

The newly added skatepark is scheduled to reach completion before Halloween, an addition that many have excitedly awaited. The crew is currently shaping the skatepark and installing grinding rails.

As for the grass and trail restoration in the park area, the crew plans to restore the grass and replace the asphalt once all other construction on the park is complete.

Boyd Park is located 1202 Fairway St., Eau Claire.
