Starting later this summer, Chippewa Valley Technical College will begin offering an Associate of Arts degree, a two-year program designed to launch students toward a four-year degree at one of three regional universities.

The 60-credit program, which will begin at the end of August for the fall semester, received approval from the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents in June and the Wisconsin Technical College System in May. Eau Claire-based CVTC, which serves an 11-county area, announced the Associate of Arts program in conjunction with UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stout, and UW-River Falls.

“We are pleased to provide this remarkable opportunity for students across the district,” Sunem Beaton-Garcia, president of CVTC, said in a media release. “The partnership with our UW institutions is of great importance, and I am grateful for their continued collaboration to provide seamless transfer for students.”

All of the institutions involved are commitment to “seamless transfer,” the media release stated. ‘This collaboration will support the transfer of students to the institution that best suits their interests and support the needs of students throughout northwest Wisconsin and beyond,” the release said.

Students who enroll in the Associate of Arts degree program at CVTC will receive guidance about their desired pathways from a dedicated advisor at CVTC, supported by the three universities.
