There aren’t summer Olympics this year, but some locals are bringing home a handful of medals anyway. Eau Claire’s Silver Spring Foods recently earned three medals – one gold and two silver – at the World-Wide Mustard Competition.
Three mustards made by Silver Spring Foods rose to the top among the hundreds of condiments from across the globe at the annual contest, held at the National Mustard Museum in Middleton. The winners were Stone Ground Mustard, which won a gold medal in the Coarse Grain Category; Everything Bagel Mustard, which won silver in the Exotic Category; and Beer’n Brat Mustard, which won silver in the Horseradish/Wasabi Category.
Over the years, Silver Spring Foods has won more than 50 medals in the World-Wide Mustard Competition.
“Silver Spring Foods has set the standard for innovation and creativity in the mustard category. Each award year is a testament to the vision and ingenuity of our food innovation team,” said Eric Rygg, president of Silver Spring Foods. “Having our new mustards win medals was especially meaningful for our team who dedicated the entire two years of the pandemic to mastering the formulations.”
Silver Spring Foods is a subsidiary of Huntsinger Farms, the largest grower and processor of horseradish in the world. The family-owned company is based in Eau Claire. Learn more at silverspringfoods.com.
