RIDE WITH PRIDE: Here’s What’s Happening for Chippewa Valley Bike Week

from road rides to biking to a baseball game, there’s something for every cyclist

Whether you prefer getting dirty on off-road trails or sticking to city streets, whether you’re a 365-day bike commuter or a summertime cyclist, Wisconsin Bike Week has some local offerings to get you into gear. Presented by Bike Chippewa Valley and sponsored by the Wisconsin Bike Federation and Volume One, Wisconsin Bike Week events run June 4-11. Here’s a peek at the lineup:

Tuesday, June 7

HANDS-ON FIX-A-FLAT WORKSHOP & HAPPY HOUR

6-7:30pm • SHIFT Cyclery & Coffee Bar, 615 Graham Ave., Eau Claire • Learn the basics of fixing your own flat tire during this pop-in workshop. Bring your own bike or wheel to work on and get help from the experts. Tools and demo wheels will be provided. Tires, tubes, parts, and tools available for purchase. Prize giveaways from SHIFT.

Wednesday, June 8

BIKE TO BASEBALL

5:30pm • Meet-up point: Brewing Projekt, 1807 N. Oxford Ave., Eau Claire • Meet-up and ride to an Eau Claire Express baseball game vs. the Minnesota Mud Puppies at Carson Park. Participating riders receive free general admission to the game, but you must join the ride from the meet-up point, leaving at 6pm sharp. Sponsored by: Eau Claire Express and Bike Chippewa Valley.

Thursday, June 9

RIDE YOUR BIKE TO THE SOUNDS LIKE SUMMER CONCERT

6-8pm • Phoenix Park (next to the restrooms by the farmers market pavilion) • Bike to the second Sounds Like Summer Concert of the season at Phoenix Park, and park for free at the Bike Valet parking service in Phoenix Park. Giveaway to anyone who parks at the valet!

 


Friday, June 10

BIKES, BRIDGES & BREWS

6:30-8pm • Ride leaves at 6:30pm from Phoenix Park at the trailhead building, so arrive early • Join us for a leisurely ride through the city of Eau Claire covering some of the better bike routes, bike trails, and bridges before ending at The Brewing Projekt. The ride will cover approximately 10 miles and will be at a moderate city riding pace (10 mph). Have a beer or other beverage with fellow cyclists before heading home before dark.

Saturday, June 11

ROAD RIDE

8am-noon • Ride leaves from SHIFT Cyclery & Coffee Bar, 615 Graham Ave., Eau Claire • Participate in a road biking tour led by local bike enthusiasts from SHIFT Adventure Club. Bike about 30 miles at a pace of 14-16 mph through the Chippewa Valley and make a stop for a free snack! Helmets required.

 

FIRST ANNUAL PRIDE RIDE

11am- 12:30pm • SHIFT Cyclery & Coffee Bar, 615 Graham Ave., Eau Claire • Celebrate Eau Claire’s Pride with a family-friendly bike parade through downtown. Decorate your bikes from 11:00am to noon at SHIFT, then slow-roll together down Barstow Street to Phoenix Park for Pride in the Park. Some bike decorating supplies will be provided.

 

TAKE A KID MOUNTAIN BIKING DAY

10am-1pm • Eau Claire County Expo Center pavilion (Lowes Creek County Park entrance off Lorch Avenue) • Join CORBA and the 906 Adventure Team for their annual event to get kids on mountain bikes! This event is for kids of all ages, and is free and open to the public. Parents, bring your bikes too! Helmets required. No experience necessary. Food and drink for all participants, but please register. Sponsored by Markquart Toyota and Packer Mini Storage.
