Carry the Load, an event celebrating Memorial Day will be making its way through Eau Claire on Sunday, May 8, as part of its national relay.

There are five routes stretching across the 48 mainland states and covering over 20,000 miles. Eau Claire is a stop on the 3,800-mile Midwest route, starting in Minneapolis on Saturday, and ending in Dallas at the end of the month.

Carry the Load, according to their website, seeks to acknowledge the true meaning of Memorial Day by connecting America and honoring service people.

“For anyone who has lost someone in service to our country, they will tell you that participating in Carry the Load has made a lasting impact on their life,” CEO  Stephen Holley said. “Walking side-by-side one another, and sharing stories demonstrates beyond words that people do care.”

The Carry The Load National Relay will be in Eau Claire in the morning on Sunday, May 8. For route info, visit carrytheload.org.
