Local nonprofit organization OutdoorMore, Inc. is dedicated to making Eau Claire's Pinehurst Park one of the most robust outdoor recreation opportunities in the Chippewa Valley, with renovations underway since 2013 and continuous fundraising opportunities for improved equipment.

Thanks to a Mountain Dew grant, which aims to support recreational opportunities across the country, the nonprofit is able to continue their efforts this winter.

OutdoorMore, Inc. is one of 40 recipients of a $5,000 grant from Mountain Dew.

7.1 million more Americans participated in outdoor recreation in 2020 than in the year before, according to the Outdoor Industry association, and so the grant aims to meet demand for outdoor recreation opportunities to prevent stagnancies for community organizers.

Pinehurst Park, known for its biking opportunities, disc golf course, playground, pump track, and more, will use the grant to finish installing their tow lift to enhance local skiing opportunities, adding more lighting to develop the ski area in preparation for next winter.

Since the beginning of November, OutdoorMore, Inc. has raised about $22,000 – more than half of their $40,000 goal toward developing ski and sledding opportunities at the park.
