Bonnie Mullins is a fiber artist who creates tactile pieces influenced by structure, growth, and innovative reuse. Her passion to transform everyday and natural objects is done with the intention of conveying a unique perspective on personal narrative and exploring the complexities of the mind.
“Chapters” (2021) mixed media (wool, yarn, nylon rope) 19” x 19” x 5” • From the artist: “Referencing a personal landscape, ‘Chapters’ aims to explore succinct segments of past self. As each piece navigates the twists and turns of the last, it must build from the structure of the neighboring knot. This support-based form reveals the complexities of collective knowledge and an innate influence from experiences stored away. Along with the change of color and texture, is the suggestion of a flux in values and relationships. Through this process, a clear entity rings through – a sense of self in a conglomeration of prior identities.”
