Since you died,
I have walked in the company
of women. Unlike those haiku poets
who wondered             river trails alone,
we walk together                  watching over one
who’s forgotten                         her married name
but smiles with the                            light of decades,
women who                                    happily pass
eclipse glasses                             back and forth
as we rest along                        the lake bank,
sharing darkness              and the sliver
of bright light        remaining
around the coronas
of our hearts.
