If you’re looking to enjoy the Chippewa Valley’s magical winter scenery, unplugged and unbothered by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the Off-Grid Inn is the perfect place for a getaway, thanks to the opening of their second Fall Creek tiny house last winter.

“All of the frost-covered trees were so beautiful,” wrote one visitor. “Off-Grid is in a quiet, secluded area that allows us to take a break from our busy lives.”

Available for rent through Airbnb for $279 a night, the Off-Grid Inn – Unit 2 mimics the style of its predecessor, the highly regarded Unit 1, and is the epitome of modern minimalism. Everything about the space is sleek, from the cubic architecture to the wall-length windows.

Situated on a heavily wooded lot in Fall Creek, renters get up close and personal with nature without the restless nights from lumpy-blow-up-mattress-related insomnia and fingers and toes so cold you can’t feel them the entire night. Instead, they have the luxury of a queen-size bed, compostable bathroom, Wi-Fi, and even a movie projector – not to mention a fire pit for those looking to start late-night bonfires. (BYO s’mores ingredients!)

This cozy cabin also includes hot water, bed linens, and towels, a Bluetooth sound system, air conditioning and heating (the latter of which will come in handy this winter, which is predicted to be a particularly chilly one!), a fully functioning kitchen equipped with a mini-fridge, stainless-steel stove, and dishes and cooking basics such as pots and pans. The unit utilizes smart-locking mechanisms and self-check-in, too.

But, perhaps one of the most dazzling features of the unit – when compared to the first unit, which opened in 2019 – is its lights. Download the Hue app to access the settings, brightness, and – you can guess what’s coming based off of these pictures – color. It’s every Gen Z TikTok-er’s dream. (The first unit has already made its way into TikTok stardom, such as this TikTok from October.)

“A bunch of my TikTok followers were super interested after I posted a video about Off Grid Inn – Unit 2,” one reviewer wrote.

Renters recommend downloading any movies or TV shows visitors may want to watch beforehand, as the reception can be spotty out in the woods. Many also advised that those staying longer than a day or two should meal prep before heading out – part of the minimalist life is having less space for your mom’s 12-part charcuterie board. Sorry to break it to you, Mom.

Owners recommend checking out the number of hiking trails in the area, specifically Big Falls County Park, Beaver Creek Reserve, and Scenic Orchard.

Bring a good book, a deck of cards, and settle into a soothing weekend.
