Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. When our staff brainstormed this issue’s special Best of the Holidays cover, we knew we wanted to create something that looked good, but had that local flare. One of our designers, Taylor, claimed she had become a real baking and icing aficionado, and we decided to put her to the test. After hours of baking and decorating, Waldo the Wisconsin Gingerbread Man was born. Add in a campfire for a little winter warmth, some trees, and a glimmer of holiday magic, and ho ho ho – you have a holiday cover all set to go. We hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we did eating it!
