CAST YOUR VOTE: Help Choose Among the Finalists to Name the Downtown Loop
winning name will be applied to one-mile path around confluence
More than 300 suggestions have been winnowed down to five choices, and now you can help select the official name for the currently unofficial one-mile pedestrian loop around the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa rivers.
Now through Nov. 30, Downtown Eau Claire Inc. is holding an online vote to choose a name for the loop that includes the illuminated Haymarket Plaza, Phoenix Park, and Grand Avenue footbridges and the public paths that connect them along the rivers. The public offered more than 300 suggestions in late September, and DECI volunteers have narrowed them down to the following:
- Bridgelight Mile
- Confluence Loop
- Confluence Mile
- Eau Claire Riverwalk
- Three Bridges River Trail
(Sorry, Loopy McLoopface didn’t make the cut.)
To help name the nameless footpath, you won’t have to walk far: Just follow the link to the DECI website and pick your favorite by Nov. 30. The winning name will be announced at DECI’s Haymarket Holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 4.
After than, when you want to meet with friends or family on this scenic, watery loop, you’ll finally have a name to use for it!
