GET OUT AND ABOUT WITH WALKABOUT EC. A new health initiative in the City of Eau Claire aims to get people moving and grooving this summer.

Eau Claire welcomes its newest health initiative for the summer: Walkabout Eau Claire, another fun way to get active and enjoy the sunshine this summer with the chance to win prizes at the same time.

Every Wednesday, participants have the chance to walk a weekly path, specifically designed to be fun and accessible. One minute spent walking equals one point. Once 750 points are earned (that’s 12.5 hours), participants are eligible for the grand-prize drawing. Each day, individuals can log up to 30 minutes of walking.

Businesses are encouraged to participate as well. Round up your coworkers for the chance to win a $500 certificate for Eau Claire Cheese and Deli for a company lunch. The individual grand prize is a “vacation in your own city.” This includes a one-night stay at The Lismore and complimentary breakfast, a $50 gift card to Houligan’s Steak and Seafood Pub, and two $5 gift cards to Olson’s Ice Cream.

Walking on Wednesday will earn you additional points and/or prize entries, however the route is available to walk for points on any day of the week. Get registered at the Eau Claire Chamber of Commerce’s website. Once registered, you’ll receive a tracking sheet to keep track of points earned.

Check out their webpage each week to get an updated route map. Tracking sheets will be submitted on the final walk on Sept. 1 for the grand prize drawing.
