Mayo Clinic Named No. 4 Hospital in Wisconsin

several Chippewa Valley hospitals included in U.S. News rankings

Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire has been named the No. 4 hospital in the state in just-released latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report. The hospital moved up two spots from the No. 6 ranking it received in 2020, according to results posted on the U.S. News website on Tuesday, July 27.

The kudos didn’t stop there: Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire also ranked as “high-performing” in the specialty of pulmonology and lung surgery and for the following procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip fracture, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, pneumonia, and stroke.

Meanwhile, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, ranked as the No. 1 hospital in the United States as well as the state of Minnesota, while Mayo Clinic locations in Arizona and Florida topped the rankings in their respective states as well.

Meanwhile, Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, ranked as the No. 1 hospital in the United States as well as the state of Minnesota, while Mayo Clinic locations in Arizona and Florida topped the rankings in their respective states as well.

Several other hospitals in the Chippewa Valley also landed on the list. HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire ranked as high-performing for colon cancer surgery, heart attack, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, while HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls and Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Cedar in Menomonie both ranked as high-performing for hip fractures.

According to a press release, “The U.S. News & World Report ‘Best Hospitals’ rankings feature 20 hospitals with the highest combined overall scores in 15 medical and surgical specialties, and 17 common procedures and conditions ratings. Hospitals are measured on factors such as survival, patient experience, nurse staffing, advanced technology, patient services and reputation with other specialists. Hospitals also are ranked regionally within states and major metro areas.”
