If you’ve been thinking of getting a new tattoo, consider going for the gold at Eau Claire’s newest ink parlor, Gold Snake Tattoo.

Owned and operated by Eau Claire native Matt Duffenbach, the private studio will have an upscale, modern aesthetic to offer tattoo aficionados nothing short of a high-end experience. It’s expected to open July 6 at 2759 London Road.

“I have made a lot of updates to make it as comfortable as possible for artists and customers,” said Duffenbach, who has worked at Wintership Tattoo in downtown Eau Claire since its opening in 2013.

Duffenbach knew he had an artistic touch from a young age. “I was always decent at art and drawing,” he said.

GOLD SNAKE TATTOO, EAU CLAIRE

After receiving his first tattoo at the age of 18, he began working the counter of a local tattoo shop with the hope of learning more about the industry. “Eventually I got an apprenticeship, and the rest is history,” Duffenbach said. 

The 16-year veteran of the inking industry specializes in traditional tattooing, including bold linework, heavy black shading, and bright colors. Duffenbach prides himself on his ability to be versatile in his work.

“I do a wide variety of styles,” Duffenbach said. “I also do black and grey work and a fair amount of line and dot work.”

Now a longtime tattoo artist, Duffenbach attributes his success to the knowledge he gained from the shops and artists he once worked for.

“I’m thankful for the experiences and inspiration to finally open my own shop,” Duffenbach said. “I’m excited to take this next step in my career path.”
