“Judith” by Aubrey Hogan

Aubrey Hogan is an Eau Claire based artist. His primary medium is reclaimed wood mosaics. He creates art to repurpose our waste and reconnect us to the wild.

“Judith” 36” x 48,” reclaimed wood mosaic (2021)  •  From the artist: “My process typically begins by digging old wood out of a pallet manufacturer’s trash pile. Each piece of a mosaic is then individually cut and shaped into a landscape. The hope of my artwork is to create something beautiful out of what has been discarded. I think that is a statement worth making. Every good story embraces the restoration of what should otherwise be lost. Art can anchor us to those transcendental values of goodness, beauty, and truth found right here on the earth around us.”

Volume One finds its cover art in a number of ways, from local art shows to random emails to knowing someone who knows someone who knows a great artist. The art always originates from a current or former Chippewa Valley resident. If you'd like to submit cover art, send us a message.
