After providing more than 14,000 vaccine doses since opening in early April, the COVID-19 vaccine clinic at UW-Eau Claire’s Zorn Arena will close soon – but that doesn’t mean that community members won’t still have quick, easy access to shots.

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department announced that it will shift its community vaccination operations to its own offices inside the Eau Claire County Courthouse as well as to UWEC’s Water Street parking lot. To make things even easier, the latter site will be operated as a drive-through and walk-up clinic.

The final clinic at Zorn Arena will be 3-7pm on Wednesday, June 30. The new clinics will open in early July.

The health department said that, as demand for the vaccine lessens, the university and the department want to make getting shots as simple as possible.

“The partnership that came together to operate the Zorn Arena Clinic for nearly three months has been an incredible asset to help get many people vaccinated in our community and region,” said Lieske Giese, health department director. “Now, we are excited to offer a drive-thru clinic for anyone who prefers to get vaccinated while staying in their car. Just drive up, roll down your window, and roll up your sleeve!”

It’s really that easy: Vaccines at both locations will be free and no ID or proof of citizenship will be needed. Appointments are optional and may be scheduled at vaccinate.wi.gov. Walk-ins are also welcome. Here are the scheduling details:
